Venerable Geshe Kelsang Gyatso
The Spiritual Director of Mahakaruna Center is Venerable Geshe Kelsang Gyatso. He is the inspiration behind the revival of Kadampa Buddhism in our time. He has authored 20 books, all written directly in English, completely documenting the entire path to enlightment. established three unique study programs and over 800 Kadampa Centers and Groups world wide. Geshe-la has trained many qualified western teachers, fostered a flourishing ordained community, and inspired a project to build Buddhist temples in every major city in the world.
Geshe-la serves as the Spiritual Director of all NKT Buddhist Centers, ensuring that all centers have the opportunity to build on an unshakable foundation of pure Dharma. But Geshe-la also strongly encourages centers to become independent, his wisdom in fostering and supporting independent centers who can serve their local communities
Our Resident Teacher
Ace Remas
Ace Remas is Geshe Kelsang's representative in Northern California and Nevada, as well as the resident teacher at Mahakaruna Buddhist Center in Petaluma. Through his devoted study and sincere practice, he is an inspiring example of how training the mind solves all our daily problems and brings inner peace. His teachings are heartfelt, and are presented with a clarity, warmth and a joy that makes them accessible to everyone.
